Bridges
In Manhattan’s Two Bridges neighborhood, at the southern end of Chinatown, we designed the interiors of a narrow 2,300-square-foot French restaurant, taking aesthetic cues from the area’s mid-century architecture. Inspired by the nearby Brutalist towers of George Shimamoto, we used glass-brick partitions to structure the long interior, introducing a modernist geometric layout. Cherrywood banquettes, bar, and trim—with sweeping curved forms—anchor the space, while poured concrete floors and textured walls temper the polish. Chrome lighting by Blue Green Works and vintage sources lend a soft industrial edge. Balancing high-contrast materials and tones, the design also builds on Art Deco references without leaning on nostalgia—elevating the rawness of the architecture.
